Best affordable ski jackets: Stay stylish on the slopes with our favourite ski jackets for men and women

Winter is well underway bringing with it just a few of our favourite things: hot chocolate, warm blankets, and if you're more adventurous, ski season.

Every year, Australians make the trip to the inland eastern states for a few days spent shredding up the slopes. Whether you're a skier or a snowboarder, you need to stay warm in the icy conditions.

Snowsports can be pretty pricey, but luckily, we've found a bevvy of snow and ski jackets that are not only stylish but very affordable as well. Save your money for the sporting gear and stay warm, dry and protected with some of our favourite picks...

NOTE: Prices are accurate at the time of publishing.

Available for just $70, we've found the most reasonably priced ski jacket on the internet. Both waterproof and breathable, this jacket from Acme Projects will keep you warm and dry as you hit the slopes. With an outer shell made of micro-fleece, you'll be able to trap your body heat to keep you safe in cold conditions, while the soft interior texture offers optimum comfort.

You'll stand out on the slopes in this bold blue jacket, with bright orange accents for extra visibility. Durable enough for snowboarding, skiing, or building snowmen, you'll feel warm and comfortable all trip in this hooded number.

Available for $89.99, this jacket from outdoor brand Little Donkey Andy features a removable hood that you can customise to your preference and the changing weather conditions at the snow this year.

Coming in a nice, easy-to-spot powder blue colour, this jacket promises to keep you dry in the rain and snow while also trapping heat inside. Made of high-tech waterproof fabric, the jacket is also breathable and has plenty of pockets to keep your valuables on hand.

Adopting a special design from wear-resistant fabrics, this jacket is windproof while also being breathable and waterproof. Made of high-density materials and coating, it can obstruct any air intrusion, ensuring warmth as you whip down the mountainside.

Another windproof option, this jacket will also insulate your body with its warm and fluffy lining. It also features a full-zip closure, and buttons to the outer layer to ensure no rain, wind, or snow can get inside. You can also use it to stash your phone, wallet, and lift pass in its five different utility pockets.

This ultra-functional black jacket is perfect for skiing or snowboarding but also makes a great winter fashion statement. With adjustable velcro cuffs, a standing collar and a water and windproof exterior, this one will keep you warm on all occasions.

With waterproof and windproof properties, you'll stay dry and comfortable even in the worst conditions with this jacket on. And if you want to stand out more than a black jacket will allow, it's also available in red and black camo, amongst other colours.

This waterproof windbreaker will keep you safe from the worst of the weather as you push through the snow on your skis. Filled with 2400-needle cotton, which minimises air mobility and locks in body heat, there's no question you'll be warm enough.

The fluffy lining of this jacket resembles a blanket, promising soft, comforting warmth in amongst the wind and snow. You can tighten up the jacket using its drawstring hem and elastic cuffs, and the detachable hood can be adjusted as you like.

Another standout jacket when it comes to colour and print, the bold turquoise colour will keep you visible, even in a blizzard. Not only is it weather-proof but the polyester shell of the jacket is designed to protect you in the event of a fall, stopping any rocks or hard ground from harming you.

This gorgeous patchwork print features pink, red, green, and white interwoven, making for our favourite colour jacket thus far. Best of all, it comes with a pair of pants for skiing in, too. Both are made from high-performance waterproof fabric, which can block the rain and snow from seeping inside.

Another matching jacket and pants set, the blue tones of this outfit will have you contrasting with the snow around you. The soft shell of the jacket is resistant to wear and tear and is also wind and weatherproof. The pants have been designed with flexibility in mind, rather than bulk, ensuring you can move down the slopes in high-tech material that also keeps you dry and warm.

This colourful jacket from adventure brand Roxy will keep you visible on the mountainside. With an adorable fluffy hood and a slim fit to keep you nice and warm, you'll be kept dry in snowy conditions.

If pink is your colour, then this is the ski jacket for you. Featuring a giant hood, three layers of insulation, and quick-drying material, this is a strong contender on our list. Designed with durability in mind, it will also last you for many seasons to come.

While we don't recommend wearing this one on the slopes, this jacket from Orolay is perfect for a day trip to the snow, or time spent chilling at the chalet while your friends take to the mountainside. Super warm and insulating, with six pockets for holding everything you need, you'll feel both protected and stylish in this jacket.
